Frequently Asked Questions

When Should I Take A Pregnancy Test?
While it can be possible to receive accurate results before missing a menstrual cycle, pregnancy tests are most accurate after missing a month’s period.

What Are My Options If I Am Pregnant?
Once you have a verified pregnancy, you have three options to consider: parenting, adoption and abortion.  Finding out you are pregnant can cause a wide-range of emotions, so we encourage you to talk to a family member or friend you trust.   Our staff is more than willing to discuss your options with you and those you choose to include in your decision-making process.   No one should be pressured into making a decision about their pregnancy.   We want to provide a safe place for you to make the healthiest decision possible.

How Will I Receive My Test Results?
You will receive your pregnancy test results at the time of your appointment.  All STD results will be given by Medstat professionals.   Heartline will not receive your test results.   Ultrasound follow-up calls will be made by our medical professionals after our licensed medical director reviews them.

Do You Offer Services For Men?
Yes, Heartline offers a variety of services for men. We recognize that an unplanned pregnancy can be overwhelming for the man involved.   In the same way that we offer advocacy services for pregnant women, we also offer these services for their partners.   In addition to meeting with a Men’s Advocate (and per the female client’s consent) the father of the baby will be present for the pregnancy test results and, if applicable, the ultrasound.   For those men preparing to be a father for the first time, we offer Rock Solid Fatherhood, educational classes geared specifically towards men.

Do You Prescribe Birth Control?
Heartline does not provide, nor refer, for birth control.   However, if you are seeking information about birth control, an appointment can be made for you upon request.   Additionally, if you have further questions about birth control, Heartline medical professionals recommend that you consult your family physician as they have knowledge of your complete medical history.

Do You Provide Plan B?
We do not provide emergency contraception (Plan B, the Morning After Pill, etc.), however, we can discuss how it works and possible side-effects of its usage.   For more information, call 574-267-5110.

What Do I Need To Bring With Me?
All services are free and confidential, all you need to bring is a photo ID.

If I'm Under 18 Do I Need My Parent's Permission For Testing?
Because of the Sexual Health Reproductive laws, we are able to provide full testing and treatment to you without parental consent.   We also strive to provide all of our services free of charge so that there is no need for services to be billed to you or your guardian’s insurance provider. We pride ourselves in making your health and confidentiality our top priority.
